Since a recent update in Outlook Office 365, adding an email address can cause problems. Fortunately, this can be solved with a workaround. In this manual we explain how you can add an email address if Outlook incorrectly indicates that the data is incorrect.

1. Go to Manage Profiles
2. Add new email account
3. Configure your account

Go to Manage Profiles

Allereerst ga je, bovenin Outlook, naar Bestand. Daar klik je op Info > Accountinstellingen > Profielen beheren.

A window will appear, Mail Configuration – Outlook. Click here on Email Accounts…

You can then click on New…  under E-mail. This way you can add a new email address to Outlook.

Configure your account

Om een email account toe te voegen, moet deze handmatig ingesteld worden.

Je kiest voor een POP of IMAP email account, omdat we een IMAP verbinding gaan instellen.

You now need to enter your login details. Steps 1 and 3 should be replaced with your own data.

After you have filled in all the fields, go to More settings…

Outgoing E-mail Server (SMTP) also requires authentication. So this must be checked.

Finally, under Advanced , turn on SSL/TLS  for both incoming and outgoing mail.
Port 993 should be set for incoming mail. The outgoing mail goes over  465.

Confirm this information to save your account.

A test is now being performed to verify the functionality of both the IMAP and SMTP server.
This should now run smoothly.
